The Sooners stellar defensive performance against Texas was punctuated by a goal line stand as the OU defense turned away the Longhorns on 4 plays from the 1 yard line. Let's break down how that happened.
The defensive front holds their ground, and Kip Lewis shoots the gap to make the tackle on Brooks.
After getting stuffed up the middle on first down, Texas tried to test the outside but Dasan McCullough blows up the edge and Kip Lewis does a great job of turning the play back to McCullough.
Kelvin Banks (#78) is widely regarded as one of the top offensive tackles in the country and a top NFL draft prospect. Ond 3rd and goal Ethan Downs tosses him to the ground. This allows Danny Stutsman to join Downs in the hole and the play is dead at that point. Dasan McCullough flies in from the far side for good measure.
4th and goal, and Texas has given up trying to out-muscle the OU defensive front and try a quick pass to Worthy. Fantastic recognition and effort by McCullough and Bowman to keep Worthy from crossing the line.
