This past weekend witnessed an electrifying series of baseball between the

Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, culminating in a Bedlam series

win for the Cowboys with two victories to the Sooners' one. The series kicked off on

Friday night in Stillwater, where despite the Sooners outperforming the Cowboys in hits,

with 11 to 6, and launching four home runs, they fell short, losing 9-6. Freshman

sensation Jaxon Willits was a standout, hitting his first two collegiate home runs, while

Easton Carmichael and Jackson Nicklaus contributed the other homers for Oklahoma.

Despite their efforts and a mid-game rally, the Cowboys' early lead and subsequent

scoring, including a pivotal three-run seventh inning, ensured their victory.

The tables turned on Saturday with the Sooners bouncing back in a high-scoring

affair, triumphing with a 19-10 win. This game was marked by a remarkable display of

power from Oklahoma, with six different players hitting home runs, contributing to a

total of ten for the series. The Sooners dominated with crooked numbers in multiple

innings, notably putting up five runs in both the third and fourth innings. The game's

offensive onslaught brought back memories of previous high-scoring encounters

between these teams, with the Sooners notching their highest score in Stillwater since

1985.

However, the series finale on Sunday saw the Cowboys securing the series with a

9-5 win, overturning a lead held by the Sooners through the first six and a half innings

with a decisive six-run seventh inning. Freshman Jason Walk and senior Bryce Madron

added to the weekend's home run tally for Oklahoma, but the Cowboys' late-game surge

highlighted by a three-run homer from designated hitter Donovan LaSalle sealed the

deal for Oklahoma State.

Throughout the weekend, the series was a showcase of collegiate baseball at its

finest, with both teams displaying resilience and power. The Sooners' offense was

particularly notable for their twelve home runs across the three games, despite the

series loss. As Oklahoma looks ahead, they aim to regroup and bring their momentum

into the upcoming games, starting with a midweek clash against UT Arlington at L. Dale

Mitchell Park.
