We're a week info fall camp and there have been some good battles for different positions and players taking advantage of opportunities. Let's dive into the details of who is competing for which spots and who has stood out so far as Team 129 gets ready for week 1.

  1. Trace Ford and RMT have stood out consistently along the defensive line. Ford appears to be close to if not completely healthy, and the coaches believe he could be back to his form while at OSU where he was at times one of the better Edge players in the league.

  2. Gracen Halton and Da'Jon Terry are monsters on the inside

  3. PJ is just scratching the surface of his potential but he's already shown enough that the coaches want to get him on the field consistently.

  4. Tyler Guyton has dominated so far in camp. Guyton has all the physical tools to be an early draft pick and it appears that he is on his way to realizing that potential. The work he put in over this offseason is evident and coaches are very excited about his progress in camp.

  5. Going into camp, Jeff Lebby left the LG position as a question mark while essentially naming starters at the other OL positions. Based on early results in camp, Savion Byrd has put a stranglehold on that starting LG spot with consistently dominant performances in camp and seems to be quickly earning Bedenbaugh's trust.

  6. Troy Everett is battling with Raym for the starting center spot, even garnering 1st-team reps more than once over the last few days.

  7. Jake Taylor has worked primarily at the RT spot but he's also pushing Mettauer for time at the RG position. Bedenbaugh has expressed satisfaction with Taylor's work during the offseason and Taylor has continued that momentum into fall camp.

  8. Reggie Pearson has been the model of consistency during practices. He's rarely if ever out of position and has quickly grasped the scheme.

  9. Farooq, Stoops and Freeman have been consistent at the WR position. The other names that sources have mentioned the most often are Pettaway, Brenen Thompson and Jayden Gibson.

  10. Key Lawrence has struggled at times, but the coaches are pleased with the fact that he's shown an ability to bounce back after a rough practice and doesn't let a mistake turn into a larger issue.

  11. Jasiah Wagoner has continued his strong effort from spring practice and he's solidly in competition for the CB2 position with Gentry Williams. Williams has also been very consistent and the coaches are excited about his overall ability as a playmaker. The battle between these two is a perfect example of the competitive depth emphasis that Venables has constantly mentioned.
