Catching Up With Dilan Battle

Dilan Battle is a 6’2” 315 pound, four-star defensive lineman out of Mansfield, Texas. Battle is one of the Sooners 2025 defensive line offers and has plans to visit the OU campus on September 2nd.

What type of player is Dilan Battle? Battle said, “I describe myself as like a physical dominant player that's gonna get after every play, I'm gonna get 100% effort every time I'm on the field. I feel like I gotta prove that I'm the best on the field every time I step on it.”

He is heading into his Junior season at Mansfield Timberview. With the season starting on Thursday, Battle told the Crimson Captain what aspects of his game he is looking to improve the most saying, “I need more sacks. That's it. My run stop and ability good. I got better with my pass rush. Now It's time to put it all together and I just need more sacks.”

Battle currently has over 15 offers, he spoke about three of those schools and about what he likes in each of them.

TCU: “TCU good because, like, they came to see me in the spring and they came and offered me so, like, that set them apart from like a whole bunch of other schools because they actually seen what I could do in person. And then he offered and I like coach J-Mac (JaMarkus McFarland). He's cool. We've been texting sometimes.”

Penn State: “I like them a lot right now. I like the coaches. They coaches, they got a good, like when I went there they had some commits there. So I've seen that relationship with their commits, they got a great relationship with them… it's like a big brother relationship because all the D-Line coaches is young so they chop it up with the players.”

Oklahoma: “I like OU a lot right now. I text OU almost like every day I text with Coach Bates like almost every day. So yeah, I like OU a lot right now. They definitely like at the top of my, schools right now.” Battle spoke about his relationship with Oklahoma’s Todd Bates saying, “It's pretty good. He’s trying to get me out there because I haven't been out there yet. So yeah, I'm going out there on the 2nd.”

With Battle making his first trip to Norman on September 2nd, he spoke about what he is looking forward to seeing the most on his visit saying, “I'm trying to see how he coaches. Then I went to Texas, I like how coach Davis was, I like how he was cutting it, getting it to us but he still was talking… I just got to see because everybody coaches differently. So I got to see how he coaches. When I get out there I just gotta see how the team perform because they're going to the SEC next year and I just want to see if they're ready.”

What are some of the most important things for him when looking at a college?

“Good environment for me to be in, a place that my parents could drop me off and just be like, oh yeah this is where we want him. If they go one time they won’t have to come back. They could just be like, oh yeah this is exactly where we want him. A place where I could go compete for a starting job."
