This weekend the Sooners are opening their first home series against a well rounded Wright State, here the starting pitchers that we are expected to see for each day.
Game 1 - Braden Davis
What we can expect from the left handed pitcher in Davis is a LOT of solid offspeed pitches to get punchouts. Davis is coming into this game having got the ball on opening day against Oregon where he had an impressive performance going 5.0 innings with 7 strikeouts. Davis looks to get his first win of the season this friday against wright state.
Game Two - Brendan Girton
I might be a little biased here, but Girton is personally my favorite pitcher that we have. Girton got the ball last week against a highly ranked and highly talented Tennessee Vols team where Girton was able to go 4 innings with 9 strikeouts. 9 strikeouts is mindblowing for only seeing 4 innings…now doing that against a top 10 team is pure insanity. I fully expect Girton to put on a show in his debut in L Dale. Mitchell as a Sooner.
Game Three - Kyson Witherspoon
Going into this season we knew that the Witherspoons have got some starts before at their previous school, however, we have not been able to see them fill that role for the Sooners just yet. We now get the chance to finally see Kyson in the starting spot which is extremely exciting. Kyson also got to see some action against Tennessee going 4.1 innings showing that he has some GAS. Sooner nation should expect lots of fastballs and incredible movement on the ball from Kyson. Kyson will no doubt keep us in the ballgame and give us a chance to win, even if he is half as good as he was last weekend.
Game Four - James Hitt
James Hitt in his first game last weekend against Nebraska was nothing short of incredible. Hitt went 5.0 innings with 10 strikeout while allowing 3 runs. James Hitt last season was a pretty good starter for us, but this year it feels as if he is working to take one step up and try to catch some scouts eyes. Hitt seems to have worked on his offspeed during the offseason due to it looking like it has more movement, which is something that we should expect to see this weekend.
This weekend should also be a great weekend for us to fully dive into the bullpen and get to see more. Sooner Nation, get to L. Dale Mitchell, be loud, and lets contine to grow our love and support for Oklahoma baseball.
