1. There is some internal frustration with the running game and particularly with running backs not being good enough at breaking through tackles at the first and sometimes second level.

2. The general sense on the defensive side of the ball is that despite a second half shutout, the overall effort was not up to this team's standards. "That effort will get us beat against Texas" is how one source put it.

3. Brennen Thompson's appearance against Iowa State was a trial run of sorts to see how he looked in game action. One source indicated the staff was very pleased with the result and you can expect Thompson to see more action against Texas with some specific things schemed to take advantage of his speed.
