The Sooners landed the commitment of David Stone on Saturday night, releasing a pressure valve of pent up frustration among OU fans fueled by past recruitments that had not gone their way.
Now that David Stone is officially a committed member of the '24 class for OU, let's talk about what's next for the Sooners defensive line recruiting.
Dominick McKinley is set to announce on September 1st. On August 16th I wrote about how I do not expect this decision to OU's way, with Texas being the likely choice. I don't believe that the Stone commitment changes much on this front, despite David naming McKinley publicly in the aftermath of his announcement as one of the players he would focus on convincing to join him.
Nigel Smith is scheduled to commit on September 8th at a ceremony during the first game at Melissa High School's new football complex. On August 10th I wrote about how aside from being committed there isn't a player more solidly in OU's camp than Nigel Smith. This is another recruitment I'll have more details on post-announcement, but Sooner fans should be very confident about Nigel becoming an official part of OU's class in just under two weeks from now.
Beyond McKinley and Smith the Sooners still have Danny Okoye on the board, who looks to be a battle between primarily the Sooners and Tennessee with a decision expected sometime in September or October, and OU has not given up on recruiting Williams Nwaneri.
