Sooners Hire LaMar Morgan As Defensive Backs Coach

I can confirm Oklahoma is set to hire LaMar Morgan as their defensive backs coach, per a report by The Oklahoma Breakdown.

Morgan served as the Defensive Pass Game Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach at the University of Michigan (2024–2025) and as the Defensive Coordinator at Louisiana (2022–2023). He was highly sought after by multiple NFL teams and CFB programs, and was considered a key piece of the Michigan defensive staff.

Throughout his coaching stops, Morgan’s units have been noted for high interception totals. At Louisiana in 2022, his defense ranked 14th nationally in interceptions; at Michigan in 2024, his secondary helped the team finish in the top 50 for pass efficiency defense.

Morgan was a four-year starter at safety for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (2003–2007). He appeared in 40 games, recorded 111 tackles, and was a two-time team captain.
